This week’s Community Corner highlights two inspiring creatives: Rachel Rodriguez and Kayley Nell Walker. They are the co-authors of the new children’s book Music City Museums. Brother Love sat down with them to talk about the project. It includes both a book and a companion song that celebrate Nashville’s vibrant creative community.

Rachel Rodriguez blends her Latino heritage, rock ‘n’ roll edge, and soulful vocals to create a powerful, distinctive sound. She also teaches Creative Movement & Music at local preschools and volunteers at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Kayley Nell Walker is a talented singer-songwriter and music educator. She has created and led programs with nonprofits like Music for Seniors and the Sing Me a Story Foundation.

With support from the Metro Arts Fund, Rodriguez and Walker brought Music City Museums to life by collaborating with several Nashville museums featured in both the book and the song. Their mission is simple yet meaningful: to spark children’s curiosity about the city’s rich history and artistic culture. The authors hope their work inspires kids and their families to explore the museums around them and learn something new about their hometown. As Rodriguez and Walker put it, there is value in being a tourist in your own city.

The pair will kick off a Song and Storytime tour with the featured museums once they release the book. Each event will include a live reading of the book, a performance of the song, and the opportunity for attendees to explore the museum. They have already released the song, and they plan to release the book in the coming month. Music City Museums will be available for purchase online, at live events, and in museum gift shops.
