This week’s Community Corner spotlight features Nashville Humane Association!
Brother Love recently sat down with Taylor Spreitler, the PR and Community Engagement Coordinator for the Nashville Humane Association (NHA). Since 1946, NHA has been a vital part of the Nashville community, supporting at-risk, homeless, and adoptable pets through compassionate care and outreach.
Taylor plays a key role in connecting the public with NHA’s mission, showcasing adoptable pets, organizing puppy parties, and fostering community involvement. During the visit, she was spending time with Patrick, a sweet 5-year-old dog currently looking for his forever home.
NHA offers monthly low-cost clinics for dog and cat owners, providing microchipping and vaccinations to help keep pets healthy and safe. Brother Love even brought his own dog, Jazz, to one of these clinics for a vaccination. In partnership with Metro Animal Care, NHA also provides spay/neuter services and hosts a weekly pet food bank every Wednesday from 12–2 PM in West Nashville.
Understanding that pet ownership can be financially challenging, NHA’s mission is to reduce barriers to adoption and help keep pets in loving homes. Their in-house veterinary care allows them to support animals through every stage, from rescue to recovery to adoption. They work closely with Metro to respond to abuse cases and regularly pull animals from Metro shelters to give them a second chance.
Support for NHA comes in many forms. You can adopt or foster, whether short-term or long-term, and they’ll provide everything you need. Volunteers are always welcome, and monetary donations go a long way in sustaining their work. Even engaging with their social media by sharing posts about adoptable animals helps spread the word. They also have a wish list on their website for supplies, and an exciting license plate initiative currently in the works.
Through these efforts, NHA continues to be a beacon of hope for Nashville’s pet community, helping animals through their toughest moments and guiding them toward brighter futures.
