On this week’s episode of Community Corner, Brother Love sits down with Brittany Farro and Melanie Gillian of the Woodland Play Cafe. Brittany was once an employee here at Lighting 100, and we are so proud of her for starting her own business and chasing her dreams. When she was pregnant, she realized that there was a shortage of third places for families, especially those with young children. After realizing this gap in the Nashville market, Farro developed the Woodland Play Cafe.
The cafe aims to give children a safe play environment, while giving care-givers a chance to relax. Woodland offers coffee, healthy snacks for kids, and areas dedicated to children and adults respectively. Admission costs 15 dollars per hour per child. This ticket gives a child access to a pretend grocery store, lego wall, and other age appropriate toys.
Not only does Woodland offer a space for families, but they offer classes as well. The classes are geared towards different age groups, including little kids (around age four), big kids (around age eight), and adults. Through these classes, kids engage in chess, art, theatre and more. Further, adults are able to take classes on potty training, preparing for flights, and more.
Brittany aims to grow her business and open more cafes around Nashville. It’s clear that there is a demand for spaces for families with young children, and the Woodland is fulfilling that demand alone. We are in full support of Brittany, as this is not just a service but a need for a community. If you are interested in checking out the cafe, click here. To listen to the full episode, click below.
