Rev’s Lightning 100 DJ Pick of The Week this week is “Your House” by Inhaler!
Some days it’s nice to just take a moment and inhale a nice long deep breath. Inhaler, the rock band stemming from Dublin Ireland, allows you to destress while offering a sense of relief and perspective, similarly to an actual asthma inhaler. Lead vocalist Elijah Hewson, son of Bono, lead guitarist Josh Jenkinson, bass guitarist Robert Keating, and drummer Ryan McMahon make up the quartet. Forming officially in 2015, the band is coming up on their 10th year anniversary! Although, their first full album release was in 2021 with It Won’t Always Be Like This. The time in between was not wasted, as they had released several singles and EPs prior to their album release, further extending their repertoire. Since their debut album, they have released Cuts & Bruises in 2023, with an upcoming album to be released in 2025! With that being said, I’d wager they’ll be around for the long haul.
In their most recent single “Your House”, the song unfolds a narrative centered around a soulful and unrequited lust. The verses and chorus echo the need for an intense longing for someone who’s just out of reach. The stark and pumping drum beat kicks off the intro followed, conversely, by smooth and supple vocals. As the tune continues, the listener feels illusively entranced by the beat. Greatly invoking the turbulent emotion, the lyrics are meant to convey. “Your House” is a non-traditional take on the rekindling of a not so perfect relationship.
