Lightning 100 is thrilled to announce this week’s Frothy Monkey Artist of The Week is Seth Timbs with his new song “You Don’t Want To Go To The Dance.”

Seth Timbs is a true Nashville local. He came up in a Murfreesboro based power-pop group called Fluid Ounces from the late 90s until disbanding in 2008. Since then, Timbs solo career has consisted of four full length records of his signature piano pop hooks. 2025 sees the release of Idle Hands, his fifth album, which features the single “You Don’t Want To Go To The Dance.”
Timbs will be celebrating the Idle Hands release with a headlining show at Eastside Bowl’s The ’58 space. Beatle’s Tribute band, Apple Core, will be opening the night. The event is sure to impress with a classic pop essence from both acts and Eastside Bowl’s retro charm serving as the perfect backdrop for the night.
“You Don’t Want To Go To The Dance” opens with a light piano trill and is soon followed by a catchy guitar hook. The song continues on with Timbs’ cheeky lyric writing and smooth voice. The repetition of lines “you don’t wanna go to the dance- to the dance” underlaid with the constant build of new guitar layers will have you singing along and bopping your head to the groove. The track is reminiscent of power pop legends like The Cars and The Romantics. Simple, but effective structure builds an overall complex arrangement that shows Seth Timbs’ prowess as a veteran of this style of music.
Be sure to catch our Frothy Monkey Artist of The Week Seth Timbs’ Idle Hands release show at The ’58 at Eastside Bowl this Friday. And listen to “You Don’t Want To Go To The Dance” all week on Lightning 100!
