Local artist of the week Britty (formerly known as Brittany Kennell) has been on the music scene for quite some time. Starting at an early age, Britty was classically trained in piano and vocals and writing songs since the age of 7. She eventually picked up guitar and formed a band, playing around the Montreal scene. Britty soon left Montreal to study and graduate from Berklee College of Music in Boston, which then led her to move to Music City. After recording several EP’s, writing with top writers, becoming a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the American Songwriter Pub Deal Contest, Britty found herself on season 10 of NBC The Voice with coach Blake Shelton. Since the show, Britty experienced a media frenzy in Montreal allowing her to perform the anthem for the Montreal Canadiens, F1 Grand Prix and Montreal Impacts. She has been recording her next project in Nashville, reverting back to her pop roots, with hopes to release later in 2017. Listen to her new single “Heavy” below and all week long on Lightning 100!
