This week’s Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week is Emily Nenni. We’re playing her track “In The Mornin!”
Nenni, originally from California, now calls Nashville home. “In The Mornin'” is off of her upcoming album On The Ranch. Nenni met producer and friend Mike Eli to record her first LP Hell of a Woman in 2017.
In 2020, she worked with Teddy and the Rough Riders on two EP’s. During this time, Nenni lived temporarily lived in Colorado to work on a ranch. This was the inspiration for her latest release. The song is all about getting up early, working hard, and getting it all done. Nenni explains that she wanted to flip a narrative upside down with this song.
“When the sun comes up, I’m hitting the road…You can stay at my house, but in the morning, you’ve got to get out of here,” she sings.
Nenni explains, “I wrote it from a female perspective where it’s a woman saying this instead of the man.”
“In The Mornin'” by Emily Nenni is a track with some classic retro country flair, similar to Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline (whom Nenni cites as inspirations of hers).
