When local artist of the week Jason Ringenberg left for Nashville in 1981 to pursue his dream of “making a band that could kick American roots music into the modern age,” he never knew just how far that would go. After touring through venues across the world in the ’80s and ’90s, he became known as “the original punk roots brainstormer.”
In 2008, he and his band, Jason & The Scorchers, were awarded the Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance. Listen to his latest single “God Bless The Ramones,” off his album Stand Tall, below and all week long on Lightning 100! Don’t miss his residency every Thursday night this month at The 5 Spot!
