Taylor Bickett is Lightning 100’s Local Artist of the Week! Taylor Bickett is a Nashville-based indie pop singer-songwriter and performer. Since her debut in 2021, Bickett has amassed over 250,000 followers on TikTok, as well as over five million streams of her music. Many of her fans view her as an “older sister” figure due to the authentic and conversational nature of her music. Most recently, Bickett was crowned the first female champion of Music City Mayhem, our annual contest centered around the advancement of local independent artists.
Taylor Bickett’s performance in “Just My Type” reflects an innate sense of flow with each word she sings. Her lyrics can feel percussive at times, especially with the rapid delivery she uses in each verse. The instrumental is simplistic, yet effective, making use of guitar strumming and electronic drums in place of traditional drums. In addition, swells and reverb are utilized to exaggerate the transition between each section of the song.
