Since the release of her latest EP, “I’m a Liar” in 2015, Whoa Dakota (Jessica Ott) has truly come into her own. Building on the blues-based roots of her former band of the same name, Jess has grown her musical interests and influences, resulting in an amalgam of digital pop and R&B. Employing the help of local Nashville producers Gavin Shea and Chris Gill of HandMade Productions, Whoa Dakota has created a sound that truly stands out amongst her Nashville peers. From the grooving bass lines of “Mess Things Up” to the dreamy mellotron arrangements of the EP opening number, “Fragile Youth”, “I’m a Liar” has combined Ott’s head-turning vocal with a pleasing blend of heartfelt lyrics and futuristic soundscapes. The newly released first single and video, “Banshee” was recently picked up by Nashville’s “Lightning 100” and is spun regularly as she continues to generate a solid buzz with her newly-founded solo efforts. As her momentum continues to grow heading into 2016, Whoa Dakota continues to be at the forefront of Music City’s up and comers. Download or stream “I’m a Liar” on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, etc.
