Adam Wakefield brought Memphis soul to Nashville when he performed at Nashville Sunday Night. The soulful country singer released his first full length album Gods and Ghosts last fall which emulates the feel of a classic country waltz with a twist of funk. Wakefield’s lyrics build a bridge from personal experiences to universal feelings and allow for musical influences of funk, jazz, and rock ‘n’ roll to cross over it. Wakefield impressed the audience with his vocal range and electric guitar playing skills when he performed an unreleased funky tune towards the end of his set. If you missed him this Sunday he’ll be back to play The Basement East on Thursday, April, 25th.
