The music of The Marcus King Band evokes memories of sweltering summer afternoons spent with family and friends around the local swimming hole. In short, this stuff just makes you feel good. The Marcus King Band’s music is some of the most down to Earth southern blues-rock out there. That rugged and soulful twang in Marcus King’s voice isn’t the affectation, that’s just how he sounds. Add Marcus’ guitar tone, that’s so dirty it’s been practically dragged through the mud, and you have one of the most talented musicians to emerge in the style since Derek Trucks.  What’s especially impressive is his age. It seems imperceptible that any 20 year old would be blessed with the matured timber of Marcus’ voice. Simply put, Marcus King is one talented dude.

Nashville Sunday Night is a special presentation of Nashville’s Independent Radio, Lightning 100. Each Sunday night Lightning 100 broadcasts a concert from 3rd and Lindsley, one of Nashville’s finest live music venues. Along with Matt Andersen, the January 8th show featured The Marcus King Band.
