Jayson here with my DJ pick of the week from Ontarian singer songwriter Daniel Romano‘s new record Finally Free, available everywhere now.
Romano has had a busy decade. In addition to two Bandcamp-exclusive albums in January, Nerveless and Human Touch, he closed out 2018 with Finally Free, his eighth LP in eight years. The scope of Romano’s work crosses genres from alt-country to psych folk, making it difficult to put into words just how prolific of an artist he is.
On Finally Free, Romano tries his hand at storytelling. The lyrics could be read in prose as he explores the mysteries universe. The dreamy landscape of the music sets the perfect scene for listeners to dive into Romano’s mind of discovery. “All The Reaching Trims” was a standout track for me as it sings almost like a ’60s protest song- something new from the ever-changing artist.
