Dan’s DJ Pick of the Week!
Today’s DJ pick comes from folk favorite, Langhorne Slim. Sean Scolnick, AKA Langhorne Slim, has been hard at work in 2020 to create his 10th studio album. “Mighty Soul”, our DJ pick of the day, is the first single off of his upcoming album Strawberry Mansion. This single is a soft acoustic tune that has the banjo at the forefront. The standout from this song is the moving lyrics that touch on the hardships of life, and how you have to rise above anything this earth has thrown your way.
Strawberry Mansion will be available on January 21, 2021. Scolnick says this about the inspiration behind his new album, “This is a collection of 18 songs written in March, April, and May of 2020. The beginning of a new world. The unraveling of an old one. A wildly strange time where we’ve found ourselves collectively holding our breath, learning how best to exhale again”.
Up until this point, Langhorne Slim couldn’t finish a song and hadn’t released a full-length album since 2017. During the first long months of quarantine, he found the strength to push through and write songs that collectively address the frustration and pain of the year 2020.
