Note from Matthew on the song, “The song ‘Personal’ I wrote when I was 19 years old. It’s a song about moving on and loving those you leave behind. I didn’t want the music video to be too sentimental. My mom Debbie and her wild friend Cherie from Michigan volunteered themselves to be my lip-synch backing band. The director Nikolai Vanyo and I created the film collage that’s running in the background. A lot of the footages from my childhood and my travels.”
