Mel’s pick this week is “You Were There” by Angel Saint Queen. With a driving beat and airy vocals, this pop-rock love song is sure to get you nodding along.
Not even a year since their debut single dropped, Angel Saint Queen has already made a name for themselves. The band has played Bonnaroo, sold out shows, and dropped three more singles. Angel Saint Queen is made up of childhood best friends Maddie Bouton and Becca Castle. Bouton is also an active bass player in Nashville, working the local music scene. Castle worked in the corporate music industry until recently, now pursuing her creative career full time. The pair had a fast start, selling out their first show and going on tour immediately, opening for local group Arlie. “You Were There” dropped on the 21st, ahead of their anticipated EP.
“You Were There” draws you in with a pulsing drum beat and electric guitar, subsequently building up to a full band wave of sound. With lyrics painting a picture of a painful love and light angelic vocals, Angel Saint Queen ensures that you won’t be able to stop listening.
