Ana Lee here with my DJ pick of the week from a band from Michigan, now based in Los Angeles. Michigan Rattlers stopped by the studio after their Bonnaroo debut and ahead of their show at the OG Basement a couple of weeks ago. I really dig their sound, it reminds me of Uncle Tupelo. Lifelong friends and deep-north natives, Michigan Rattlers play heavy-hearted folk-rock with an aching dose of Midwestern nice. Graham Young (guitar), Adam Reed… (upright bass), and Christian Wilder (piano) began writing music and performing together in their Northern Michigan high school.
