This week, Stephanie’s DJ pick is “Bad Thing” by Miya Folick!

Folick’s career started off in one of the most interesting ways. The LA-based artist made a Tinder profile strictly to recruit fellow musicians for her band. In 2018 She released her debut album “Premonitions”. “Bad Thing” is the second track on the recently released EP, “2007”

Folick wrote the track with frequent collaborator and producer Andrew Wells and sad girl indie pop rock icon Mitski. The repetitive lyrics make this song not just a fun one to listen to, but an easy one to learn!

In this song, Folick writes feelings of knowing she has made a sort of mistake and calling out for help. The chorus’s lyrics show that desperation: “I don’t wanna call first thing in the morning
Dеsperate for help to feel normal
Ovеr and over and over again”

“Bad Thing” by Miya Folick, though lyrically somber, has a catchy pop beat with some indie flair. It is a certified indie-pop jam, and you can listen to it below!
