It’s Jayson with my DJ pick of the week from gospel, soul, blues band Robert Randolph and the Family Band. “Second Hand Man” is the lead single off their forthcoming record Brighter Days, out Aug. 23.
The new LP is the follow-up to their Grammy-nominated album, Got Soul. Produced by Dave Cobb, Brighter Daysfinds Randolph diving into his gospel roots.
“All of these songs kind of harken back to how we started, to being known as this musical family band that comes from the church and appeals to rock, blues, gospel and soul music audiences,” Randolph says. “We wanted that good gospel, blues, R&B feel, because that’s where we started and it’s good to not only remind people of that but to actively remember it ourselves.”
Listen to “Second Hand Man” below and let us know what you think.
