This is a band I discovered when they opened Nashville Sunday Night for Elliott Root, and blew me away with their cover of Prince’s “When Doves Cry.” They’re called The Social Animals and they’ll be releasing a new record soon. The boys of Social Animals, Dedric Clark, Tony Petersen, Boyd Smith and Roger Whittet, hail from Duluth, Minnesota. Serving up indie and americana sounds, this unconventional quartet recently released their first full-length, self-titled album.
