Dream-pop duo Sports have the perfect weekend groove for you with their new single “The Look.” You can practically feel the euphoric sweat on the track, off their new EP Get A Good Look, Pt. 1. “The Look,” at its core, is a timeless tribute to someone who has, well, the look. You know, the one that makes you do a double-take. The one that makes you say “whoa, I wanna get to know that person.” Sports’ Cale Chronister told PAPER that the idea for the song came from someone telling him he had the look.
“I just kind of laughed because it seemed like such an LA cliché,” says Chronister. “But he was serious and told me, ‘You’ve got the look of the moment.'”
Sonically, the track reflects a lot of what goes into “the look.” It’s cool and laid-back but still high-energy at points, disco-inspired but still fully modern.
