Waker is Lightning 100’s Local Artist of the Week! The genre-blending group released their single “Many Days Ahead” in late January 2021. The single was released in anticipation of Waker’s debut album Fresh Out, which dropped back in May. The group has since been busy performing and touring thanks to the long-awaited return of live music.
Waker consists of six members – Chase Bader (guitar and lead vocals), Conor Kelly (guitar), Ryan Ladd (bass), Ryan McClanahan (percussion), Al Mathews (saxophone), and Dave Czuba (drums). Waker has graced stages at acclaimed festivals including South By Southwest, Hangout Music Fest, and Bonnaroo. The group describes their sound as a musical amalgamation of rock, soul, jam-band, and indie rock.
Waker’s single “Many Days Ahead” draws inspiration from the best of late 90’s and early 2000’s rock. The song possesses additional musical depth due to the diverse skills and musical inspirations of the band’s members. The song’s acoustic instrumentation and skillful production successfully achieve an appealing balance of contemporary and nostalgic influences.
