Nashville alt rockers Future Thieves have shared a stripped down, acoustic performance of their song “Out The Other Side,” recorded at the ONErpm studio in Brooklyn. The original version of the track appears on their latest effort Emotional Cost.
“‘Out The Other Side’ was written from a place of nostalgia. I can remember the carelessness and wonder of being 17 years old. As we get older I think we yearn for that feeling more and more and then try and mix it in with the responsibilities of our adult lives. I feel like this song gives a bit of a reminder that it’s okay to do that,” says frontman Elliot Collett.
The trio, made up of Collett, Austin McCool and Nick Goss, have began to hone in on their unique sound on their 2019 EP Emotional Cost and forthcoming full length.
Sonically, the band has moved towards a more “organic sound” blending the use of synthesizers and digital technology with basic instrumentation. The result is easy listening pop, rock reminiscent of Spoon and Local Natives.
