“Where We Come From” by J.D. Huggins is featured as this week’s ONErpm Hitmaker Alert! J.D. was raised in the Appalachian Mountains in a small town in Georgia. His hometown has played a heavy influence throughout his songwriting career. J.D. grew up in a musical household where his father was a touring musician, songwriter and producer. J.D. was the frontman of Nashville’s Heathen Sons before venturing off into a solo career.

After Heathen Sons parted ways, J.D. and Landon Ullrich began writing their upcoming album. They decided to take an entirely new direction for the sound of this album. In addition to working on new music, J.D. met Struggle Jennings around this time. Jennings signed J.D. to the “Angels and Outlaws” label. Jennings also featured J.D. on his album Troubadour of Troubled Souls.

“Where We Come From” is a song he wrote to describe a way of life that many generations have lived in the deep South. Some of the lyrics are literal and some figurative, but that can be left up to the listener. It will be the first single off of his debut album. You can watch the music video here:
