This week’s ONErpm Hitmaker is The Greeting Committee with “How It Goes.”
Addie Santino, Pierce Turcotte, Noah Spencer and Micah Ritchie are the forces behind Kansas City band The Greeting Committee. Since debuting in 2017, the band has toured with the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club, Hippo Campus and Rainbow Kitten Surprise and performed at leading festivals Lollapalooza and SXSW.
“How It Goes” is the latest release since The Greeting Committee’s 2022 sophomore album Dandelion.
Co-writer and COIN frontman Chase Lawrence describing The Greeting Committee’s shows as “a cute party you wouldn’t want to miss” initially inspired “How It Goes.”
Beneath a shimmery indie-pop exterior, the track expresses the frustration of being trapped in a cycle of your own human faults. Sartino’s expressive vocals soar above cascading distortion and ethereal indie-rock chords.
Sartino delivers some lines like self-directed eye rolls. Through singing“I’m a regular at this place. Great,” she adds a layer of palpable authenticity to the track.
