Formed in 2013 by Julian Casablancas, The Voidz have created an electric discography since their humble beginnings. Over the course of their two previous albums, Tyranny and Virtue, the band has been able to bring different genres into the modern music scene. The band has truly grown an underground cult following.
From experimental and heavy metal to new wave and indie rock, The Voidz have created a genre simply their own. The band calls it- semi-jokingly- ‘prison jazz.’ It’s a mix of the genres that they love and are inspired by. This is something shining through with their newest release “All the Same.” As the third single released for their upcoming third album, “All the Same” continues to set the scene for their newest era. The album is set to release in September of 2024.
The Voidz is the passion project of six highly talented musicians. Besides Casablancas, the electric frontman of The Strokes, there stands guitarists Beardo and Amir Yaghami, drummer Alex Carapetis, Jeff Kite on synths, and bassist and keyboardist Jake Bercovici. They’ve been able to create a dreamy grunge sound unlike anything on the charts right now.
The release of “All the Same” coincides with its feature in the major motion picture “Drugstore June.” The movie hit theaters on February 21st and prominently features the track.
