Marcus King took the stage Friday, January 17th, at Grimey’s. Walking up to the record and bookstore, greeted by a long line of fans, all of which were waiting to get front row for the artist who masters rock, country, and soul. Some fans had been in line for hours with the comfort of fold-out chairs.
Soon enough, the rows of vinyl were crowded around by a packed house. Marcus King walked on stage with sunglasses, a cowboy hat, and a nonchalant swagger. With El Dorado being his debut solo album, all he needed to fill the room was his soulful voice and impeccable skills on guitar and dobro. Like all good things, his flawless set came to an end. His finale; a love song that perfectly complemented his emotion-filled voice, Beautiful Stranger, a track featured on El Dorado.
After his acoustic show, King left for Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge for a full band performance. Once again, a long line had formed in front of the venue.
In Nashville fashion, King took the stage in the double-wide trailer to perform yet another show for a packed venue.
The Well, the single from El Dorado, was Jayson’s DJ pick of the week back in October. If you weren’t able to make it to Grimey’s or simply need more of his music in your life, you can listen to Lightning 100’s recorded broadcast below. Don’t forget to check out his debut solo album, El Dorado and catch him at Bonnaroo 2020 with The Marcus King Band.
