“Bleeding Out” is this week’s ONErpm Hitmaker Alert! Chance Peña is a 22 year old singer-songwriter and producer from Tyler, Texas. Beginning his music career by playing restaurants and bars in his hometown, Peña went on to audition for The Voice in 2015. Since then, Peña has amassed a plethora of outstanding achievements. His songs have been featured in tv shows such as Freeform’s Siren, ABC’s Nashville, and CW’s Roswell, New Mexico, as well as the hit movie Five Feet Apart. Writing, producing, engineering and performing his own songs, Peña is a master of his craft. Due to his remarkable artistry, he has written for household names within the industry such as John Legend. Combining traditional storytelling with modern musical influences, Peña moves his listeners emotionally with each and every song.
Released on January 20, 2023, “Bleeding Out” has over 1 million Spotify streams. A more stripped single, “Bleeding Out” is composed of gentle, yet resonant instrumentals and Peña’s layered vocals. Written after a 30 hour drive from California to Texas, “Bleeding Out” is about holding onto someone for too long. The lyrics mimic a conversation, as Peña initiates the tough conversation of letting one another go. The prechorus especially sets the tone of the song stating, “We’re falling apart and torn at the seams. Oh, don’t you see that we are? Not what we used to be.” Vulnerable and raw, “Bleeding Out” shows that Peña is not afraid to be transparent, bonding his listeners to him.
If you enjoy Chance Peña and “Bleeding Out,” catch him at SXSW this year!
