Dan’s Lightning 100 DJ Pick of The Week this week is “Powerlines” by Flight Attendant!
Flight Attendant is a local band crafted from the depths of the restaurant industry, so you know they’re skilled multitaskers, but even better musicians. The band members are from all areas of the country including LA, Boston, Indiana, and Kansas. “Powerlines” shares the story of how every member followed the powerlines across America, with the final destination being Music City. It also commemorates themes of appreciating your past, however different it might be from your current life. “Powerlines” celebrates the pride in your roots, transcending circumstances and clichés alike.
The new song “Powerlines” off Flight Attendant’s latest EP, is a alternative pop ballad illustrating the life beneath the powerlines in rural America. The song captures the essence of youth, rebellion, and the joy of growing up in the Plaines. The connectivity felt while living in a more remote area of the country is perfectly and wholeheartedly summarized in “Powerlines”. With the subtle build, steadily increasing drumbeats, and angelic vocals it is easy to start shouting the chorus “it was all open fields and a lot of dumb love”.
Catch Flight Attendant on their headlining tour, “Under The Powerlines”, coming to the Midwest this fall and Europe this spring!
