Indiana Alternative blues band Houndmouth released “Las Vegas” this month, the third single off their new album Good for You. Out November 5th, the album is produced by Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Hiss Golden Messenger) and mixed by Jon Ashley (The War on Drugs), making it the perfect cocktail for an average Lightning 100 listener. Upbeat and fun, “Las Vegas” is Stephanie’s DJ Pick of the Week!

“Las Vegas” is led by a galloping guitar riff and the band’s trademark rowdy backing vocals. The song describes the effects of a typical weekend in Sin City: the ever-changing influence of “Lady Luck,” the feeling of wearing the same makeup for “three days straight,” and the pressing heat of Nevada. The band calls it “the city of plastic, so unreal it’s dangerous.”

The song is the third single the band has released, after the more easy-going singles of “Cool Jam” and “Good for You.” On their Twitter, the band says that “to be honest, the other stuff on our new album has a different vibe [than “Las Vegas,”] but here we are!”
