Lightning 100 is excited to announce Liz Longley as our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week with her song “Listen to You”!
Nashville based musician/songwriter Liz Longley has returned with her latest album New Life. Released on March 20th, this album details a shift in perspective that comes with starting a new chapter of your life. Longley’s inspiration for this project came from the slew of firsts she experienced in becoming a mother.
“Wake You Up” was the second single released for New Life back in fall of last year. The song features booming drums, twinkling synths, ringing guitars, and resonant piano parts that help to transport listeners to an ethereal dream. Liz Longley’s powerful yet delicate vocals compliment the musicality of the track. “Wake You Up” is a powerful ballad of anchoring oneself to the present moment with lyrics like “It’s not like it seems in your dreams / But you keep on running just to find it / Living in the future, it’s nothing short of waiting for a miracle / So wake up.” The song reminds me a lot of the empowering pop ballads of the early 2010s, something that we could all use a reminder of in these hectic 2020s.
