For 30 years, Lightning 100 has served the Nashville music community, maintaining our fierce independence from corporate radio. After decades of musical trailblazing, we’re ready to celebrate. Beginning at 6am on Thanksgiving morning, we dive into Radio Lightning’s Throwback Thirty, playing the sounds of the station from 1990 to present day, one hour at a time.
Of course, we’ll take a lunch break for Alice’s Restaurant, a Thanksgiving tradition that we hope to continue for another 30 years. Wherever you plan to spend the holiday this year, let Lightning 100 be the soundtrack all weekend long, filling your home with the sounds and memories that have made us who we are today.
With every hour of programming, we’ll work our way through the station’s rich musical history, with DJ Picks from 1990 to 2020. But we can’t do this alone! After we wrap our DJ Picks with the 2020 hours, we’re pulling the reverse card, playing listener requests as we travel back to our origins. Do you have a song that reminds you of the first time you tuned into Radio Lightning? How about a first dance classic that you’d love to hear on our airwaves? Starting October 5th, Lightning 100 will be accepting submissions of your favorite songs from each year of our existence at lightning100.com/throwback. Fans will also be able to support the station by purchasing an exclusive t-shirt commemorating thirty years of Lightning 100. With the help of listeners in Music City and around the world, we look forward to pioneering the next thirty years of independent radio.
