Tommy Womack dropped in to the Volume.com Studio today to warm us up for his Nashville Sunday Night set on November 20th! With his incredible songwriting and witty sense of humor, Womack’s interview brought us joy from beginning to end. Starting off strong with his most recent single “Pay It Forward,” Womack shows us some of his harmonica-fueled Dylan-inspired sound. Additionally, the singer discusses his heavy influence from rock music, an aspect some listeners may find surprising due to Womack’s trademark Americana sound. In the end, he says, the sound found on “Pay It Forward” and other recent work comes more from a love for rock than from Americana.

In celebration of his 60th birthday, Womack jumped on the lineup for this weekend’s Nashville Sunday Night, sharing the stage with Nashville’s own Sunny Sweeney. Reflecting back on his life so far, Womack brought in an older song called “Nice Day,” which recounts a pleasant day with his wife and son several years ago. Memorializing the good times through his songwriting enables Womack to reflect fondly upon harder periods of his life, and the end result brings wonderful music to our ears. Watch this fantastic interview below, and stay tuned for future Lightning 100 streams on Volume.com!
