I’ve been a HUGE Avett Brothers fan for a few years now and was very excited to find out they were coming into the studio.  I delayed my trip to Moogfest in hope of being able to film the performance.  Sometimes with larger bands like The Avett Brothers, I just wait until the artist comes into the studio and sneak in to ask.  95% of the time an artist will be OK with me filming.  The only time I’ve been turned down in two years, was M. Ward who told me, “Maybe another time.”  I’m going to call him out on that next time he comes into the studio.  You time is coming soon….M.Ward!

A day before The Avett Brothers’ performance at Ryman Auditorium, they had a 5-piece drum set delivered to the studio. I’m not sure who told them our studio is big enough for that….the artist performance space is 6×5. The Avetts left their drums behind and performed “Kick Drum Heart” without the drums. It was worth being a few hours late to Moogfest. Here is the footage from “Kick Drum Heart” and “Jenny and The Summer Day.”
