Matt Vasquez from Delta Spirit joined us in the studio before his show at Cannery Ballroom. The other guys apparently wanted to “sleep in”, but we’ve just got a hunch that they remembered the small size of our studio. Check out this solo performance of the sad version of “California” and Matt’s first solo live performance of “Yahama”. We’ve been playing “California” on Lightning 100, any other songs on the album you would like to hear? Leave a comment below and let us know. Click here to see our other in-studios with Delta Spirit.
Justin Townes Earle stopped by the studio to record an episode of Music Business Radio. He showed up a little early so we got him to play a few songs on air and talk about his new record “Nothing’s Ever Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now.” Check out these performances of “Memphis in the Rain” and “Am I That Lonely Tonight?”
What do you think of the new album? We are playing “Look the Other Way”, any other tracks we should add? We’ve been a big fan of Justin Townes Earle since the beginning of his career. Check out some of our earlier in-studio performances with over 40,000 views.
Local artist Jessie Baylin stopped by the Lightning 100 studio after performing at Nashville Sunday Night. Jessie Baylin just released her debut album, “Little Spark” on Verve Forcast. Jessie was able to perform the song “Hurry Hurry” in the studio before the tornado siren/EAS warning which interrupted her during “I Feel That Too.” Kind of ironic songs to be playing during a tornado warning? We found a version of the song filmed at Grimey’s New and Preloved Music. Special thanks to NashvilleLance for filming at Grimey’s!
Lightning 100 introduced you to Delta Spirit in 2009 at Nashville Sunday Night. We were so impressed we had the guys in the next day for an in-studio performance! Click here to see the performances from Nashville Sunday Night and the Lightning 100 studio.
Delta Spirit will be releasing a new, full length album on March 13th. It will be a different type of album featuring drum machines and samples and was produced by Chris Coady, who has previously worked with such groups as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and TV on the Radio.
Warren Haynes visits the Lightning 100 studio before he performs at the grand opening(first show) at Marathon Music Works. We would like to see your pictures from the show, leave us a comment with the link! We’ve posted two stripped down versions of “River’s Gonna Rise” and “Sick of My Shadow” at Lightning 100. What do you think of Warren Haynes solo?
We were pretty excited to get Dawes into the Lightning 100 studio after seeing their performance at Mercy Lounge and Soundland(Next Big Nashville). You’ve been hearing “Time Spent In Los Angeles” on Lightning 100, now you can listen to an exclusive in studio performance! Dawes also performed “If I Wanted Someone” in the studio. Could this be their next single? Want to start hearing it on Lightning 100? Let us know and share these videos with your friends!

John Butler Trio visited the Lightning 100 studio before their show at Ryman Auditorium. You’ve been hearing “I’ll Do Anything” on 100.1 FM, now watch the live in-studio version of it. The guys keep cracking up during the song, why do you think they were laughing? We’ve got our theories.
