Steph’s DJ Pick of the Week- Care by Beabadoobee!
This week Steph goes with an edgy rock pick – “Care” by Beabadoobee. You might have heard her sweet vocals on our current rotation with the track, “She Plays Bass.” This Filipino-British singer-songwriter has been making music publicly since 2017 and is one-to-watch with a bright future ahead of her at the young age of twenty.
Bea Kristi, professionally known as Beabadoobee, played the violin for seven years before picking up the guitar. She then taught herself how to play the guitar through Youtube tutorials. Now, as the latest discovery of Dirty Hit, Kristi has toured with The 1975 globally and has found a following among their international audience.
Anyone with a TikTok account will know the song “Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head,)” which the rapper Powfu sampled Beabadoobee’s song “Coffee for Your Head.” The song went viral on TikTok app and had over 4.1 billion streams in just the month of March this past year.
“Care” gives off strong 2000’s Avril Lavigne attitude and we love it. What makes this song all the more interesting is her voice, it’s nothing like we’ve ever heard before. The young artist is clearly on her way to success, and we just love her new single “Care.” Stay up to date with Beabadoobee’s career, as she debuts her album “Fake It Flowers” later this year.
