Casey’s DJ Pick of the Week

Matthew Bean, who goes by the stage moniker Sneaky Bones, just released his fourth album Little Words. Bean released his first album in 2015, accompanying it with a European tour. “Once I booked my first tour across Europe in 2017, I was hooked,” Bean remarks. He speaks on the lyrics of his newest album saying, “Even underneath all the current chaos, the world is [messed up], and I feel very lucky to be able to create, so I’m going to do just that––make records and create.”

“Outlaw” is the second track on Sneaky Bones’ newest release Little Words. The adored folk artist starts and ends the song with strong 30 second bass riffs: “We fired up the machine and out came the heaviest drums/bass/acoustic guitar song I’d ever heard,” Bean said. Bean refers to “Outlaw” as a “dynamic and askew version of rock and roll.”

Casey is that rarest of creatures…a Native Tennesseean. His love of music can be traced to the day his dad sat him down and played him Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love?” Everything pretty much changed after that. He began his broadcasting career at the age of 14 at an AM station in Northern Middle Tennessee. It was there he learned how to cue vinyl records, splice tape with razor blades, and other skills that no longer serve any purpose. In the late nineties, he was the host of our evening show until management decided that probably wasn’t a good idea anymore. Casey returned to Nashville airwaves in 2016. When he isn’t on the air, he spends his time with his wife and son. He would also appreciate it if you’d get offa his lawn.
