Lt. Dan’s DJ Pick of the Week!
Dan’s DJ pick “Strange Girl” by Laura Marling features some spunky drums and guitar right off the bat of the track. The song comes from her new 2020 album release Song For Our Daughter. In an interview with Apple Music, the British-folk singer-songwriter discusses her inspirations for the song.
“The girl in this song is an amalgamation of all my friends and I, and of all the things we’ve done,” Marling said. “There’s something sweet about watching someone you know very well make the same mistakes over and over again. You can’t tell them what they need to know; they have to know it themselves. That’s true of everyone, including myself.”
Marling’s instagram is full of aesthetically pleasing videos of her singing, as well as photos of her home. Here Marling shares to her eighty three thousand followers a video of her acoustically playing a couple of her songs in her home.
Below, Marling shares a beautiful photo of her playing amidst the coronavirus pandemic at Union Chapel, in London, England. She posted this photo June 6th, and the people surrounding her are wearing masks.
Union Chapel is a church, live entertainment venue, as well as a homeless drop-in center. The venue is a beautiful place to perform live in Europe.
