Today’s DJ Pick of the Week goes to Molly Burch for her newest single, “Emotion”. This is the first track Burch has released since her 2019 Christmas album. The disco-pop song featuring Wild Nothing was released at the beginning of this year.
At the beginning of 2020 Burch traveled to label-mate Jack Tatum’s hometown of Richmond, Virginia in hopes of creating new material. With distinct pop and dreamy vocals in mind, Burch shared her latest demos and inspiration tracks to Tatum looking to create a similar sound of their own. Not too long later, Burch released a cover of Ariana Grande’s song “needy”, giving everyone a sneak peek into what music they could expect from her in the near future.
In a recent statement Burch explained “for me, the theme of the song is about feeling a spectrum of emotions, embracing that sensitivity, and using it as fuel to create something positive. “Emotion” is a celebration of being alive.” The song itself consists of sounds of pop bliss featuring light, polished vocals and unique bass lines.
