Today’s DJ Pick of the Week goes to Wild Love for their song “Heavy”. This track is featured on the bands most recent album, They Call Me Kid. The local multinational rock band consists of Brandon Gorman, Michael Crecca, Si Geçener, and Nolan Speer. Wild Love were finalists in the 2018 Music City Mayhem competition that was held at Marathon Music Works. They also performed at Live on the Green in 2019.
With members from Ireland, New York, Turkey and Germany, Wild Love has been releasing music since 2019. When the majority of them were in high school they decided to relocate to Nashville. The began gaining a lot of popularity however the pandemic unfortunately caused Wild Love to cancel many of their tour dates last year. The boys managed to stay busy by changing their success strategy. They decided to play live streams and line up many songs to release throughout the year.
While writing through winter and quarantine, Wild Love was able to create darker music with engaging hooks and catchy melodies. “Heavy” is a single that was released a week before the bands’ most recent album release. The song is about feeling weighted down by all the stress and emotions in life therefore wanting to call a certain person that you shouldn’t. The track starts off slowly with ambient pianos in the first verse. It begins to build up during the chorus until it eventually transforms into an upbeat indie rock song with a strong guitar hook.
