LadyCouch is our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week! LadyCouch is a southern-rock jam band woven with the spirit of soul. The group is fronted by Allen Thompson from Allen Thompson Band and Keshia Bailey from Magnolia Sons. Thompson and Bailey decided to unite in 2017 after appearing on the same bill at a show. LadyCouch also features a plethora of other talented musicians playing instruments from keyboard to guitar to horns.
Their song “Delightfully Devilish” is the third track off of their debut album The Future Looks Fine, released last year. Thompson describes the song as “riff-based with a horn line.” The silky background harmonies and the organ are the perfect touches to make this southern-rock tune complete. Thompson also explains that the song “came out of the free Disney+ month during quarantine.” If you listen closely, you may recognize the several references to The Simpson’s in the lyrics.
In 2021, LadyCouch played Exit/In. You can see them this week at Friday Afternoon Live at the Skydeck at Assembly Food Hall. They will also be playing Live on the Green on Labor Day weekend! Until then, check out the music video for “Delightfully Devilish” below!
