Nikki Lane – “Black Widow”: Local Artist of the Week

Nikki Lane Black Widdow

This week’s Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week is Nikki Lane! One of the most dangerous artists in Nashville’s outlaw country scene, Lane has once again taken center stage in music city as the hype surrounding her upcoming album continues to grow. As evidenced by her distinctive, driving sound and her East Nashville boutique storefront, Nikki Lane is a Nashvillian through and through. As the September 23rd release date of her long-awaited album Denim and Diamonds draws near, Lightning 100 is proud to highlight Lane as our pick for Local Artist of the Week.

Introducing the new album in an exciting way, “Black Widow” paints the vivid picture of an outlaw femme fatale warning the listener of the imminent danger that they face by drawing near to her web. Breaking free of contemporary country conventions, Lane molds the form of the genre into a spooky, dark shape, the likes of which were thought to have vanished from the scene long ago. Joining the growing group of Americana artists retrofitting old sounds and styles with modern sensibilities, Lane proves that her forthcoming album Denim and Diamonds is one to look forward to.

You can listen to “Black Widow” below, and make sure to catch her set at Nashville’s Americanafest on September 17th!

Tune in to 100.1 FM and all week to hear “Black Widow” by Nikki Lane, our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week.
