Cassandra Coleman Moonbeam

Lightning 100 announces Cassandra Coleman as our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week! Featured as the first song on her most recent EP, Coming of Age, “Moonbeam” is the track to keep an eye on.

While Cassandra Coleman is from a small town in Tennessee, she’s no stranger to the spotlight. As a top ten finalist in the 19th season of American Idol, Coleman’s vocals stunned judges. Shortly after her debut in 2021, the next year brought her first single to fans, an acoustic cover of “The Way It Was” by The Killers. This is a bit nostalgic for true fans: this was the song she auditioned with for American Idol two years ago.

“Moonbeam” is an excellent display of Coleman’s vocal and songwriting abilities. Her honey vocals effortlessly glide between each note. Reverberant, layered vocals seem to sound like she shouts, “Carry me to you, you can fall into me,” from the summit of a mountain. She continues to stack light background vocals over the second verse and chorus, elevating the track to be full and complex. Backed by an indie pop/folk instrumental, Coleman establishes her sound as twinkling and ethereal.
