This week’s Frothy Monkey local artist is Steve Stout! His latest track “Not Havin’ Fun” dropped late last month, and we’ve been loving it since.

Stout grew up in suburban New Jersey, finding musical inspiration through his travels to different cities across the country. In moving from Jersey to Boston, Los Angeles, and Nashville, the singer explores how change impacts his outlook on the world. Stout has been involved with multiple pop-rock bands including ØZWALD and Lifehouse, in addition to pursuing his career as a solo artist in the folk genre.

“Not Havin’ Fun” is a groovy blend of folk and indie-pop, with captivating guitar riffs and a catchy live drum backbeat. Sonically, Stout invokes an atmosphere influenced by elements of the 60s and 70s indie rock scene. His hook, “I never wanna be the only one who’s not having fun” touches on emotions we can all relate to in a world where its become harder to socialize and truly communicate with others.
