Casey’s DJ pick of the week is “Supernatural Groove” by Arts Fishing Club!
The Indie Folk-Rock band is a group of locals from right here in Nashville, Tennessee led by Christopher Kessenich. Arts Fishing Club brings a cool, vibrant energy to their live outings, which many know them for. Being compared to the likes of Wilderado and Mt. Joy, AFC’s music is all about exploring themes of friendship, adventure, and the exciting experiences of life.
Arts Fishing Club’s “Supernatural Groove” is a perfect example of effortless confidence. With feel-good guitar riffs and woozy vocals, Arts Fishing Club guides us into a new world of musical expression. The track begins with a simple yet winding guitar melody from the get-go. This melodic idea is a constant through the song and sometimes partners with the vocals for a unison part in the chorus. By the halfway point, a lush guitar solo occurs with some great effects spanning from light modulation to an octaver which creates a unique pairing with their Indie-Folk sound. Laid-back and widely panned drums take us through the whole track, slowly building through the song to an incredible ride-driven, pocketed beat. The song comes to a close after a powerful crescendo and leaves us wanting the groove to go on forever!
