Lightning Casey’s DJ Pick of the Week!
This week Casey goes with the track “Lonely” by a Nashville brother and sister duo, Five Islands. They have just released an EP this year titled “I Think in Time, I’ll Be Fine.” Lightning 100 has been a fan of Five Islands for a while now, and Five Islands even took notice and wrote an article about us!
The arts have been a part of their family for multiple generations. Their grandfather was a touring musician and their grandmother taught the two hymnal music in Five Islands, Maine.
The song “Lonely” is a deep ballad about loneliness, and how you can at least be lonely in each other’s company. The duo’s instagram is flooded with visually appealing images, including lots of song cover photos. There are also lots of sweet childhood photos used as covers!
Five Islands has mastered the perfectly harmonious tune and can make any listener stop what they’re doing to listen to this track!
Although the song is about loneliness, it can help somebody not feel as alone. Although the lyrics are sad, it has a calming yet uplifting beat. Daisy sings “Waking up is getting easy, so is waking up alone,” as if she is growing through her loneliness and heartbreak.
