Legendary singer-songwriter John Hiatt teamed up with steel guitar titans The Jerry Douglas Band for a rework of Hiatt’s 2001 “All The Lilacs In Ohio.” The track is the first single off their upcoming collaborative project Leftover Feelings. Recorded in Nashville’s own RCA Studio B, it’s a textbook case of musicians on their capital-A game. “All The Lilacs In Ohio” is Casey’s DJ Pick of the Week!

The upbeat bluegrassy track is uplifting yet mournful, recounting a fleeting romantic encounter. With a hectic fiddle line at its center, there’s plenty of room for the musicians to just mess around. When the men all join together on the chorus, you can hear how joyful they are just to be making music. It’s a refreshing dose of optimism, one that hearkens back to campfire singalongs from days gone by. Check out the live performance video for yourself below (also filmed in RCA Studio B)!
