Casey’s DJ pick of the week is “Under the Milky Way” by Lilly Hiatt. Signed with 3Sirens, Hiatt is featured on the label’s latest release, part two of the With Love project. With Love Part 2 compiles a handful of 3Sirens artists covering their favorite nostalgic songs. Noted by the label, the project captures “an era of music we all could connect to and have fun with.”

The daughter of renowned singer/songwriter, John Hiatt, Lilly Hiatt is a Nashville native. Hiatt’s strong influence from ’90s indie/alt-rock comes in handy with her rendition of this 1988 rock ballad. Hiatt stays consistent in artistic individuality while still paying homage to her roots and influence. She puts her own spin on the track with her signature dreamy vocals and a distorted guitar solo played by Doug Graham.

Hiatt, along with Adia Victoria and Coley & the Young Go-Hards, recently played one of the last shows at Nashville’s forever beloved Exit/In venue. Moving forward, Hiatt has a string of upcoming shows supporting Langhorne Slim.
