Jayson’s DJ Pick of the Week is “Don’t Do Me Good” by Madi Diaz!
Madi Diaz started her solo career in 2007 as a Berklee student, and since then has been climbing up the ladder of success. You might have seen her open for Harry Styles, or play in his band during the spring 2023 run of Love on Tour. Her fifth upcoming album, Weird Faith explores romance through a raw and vulnerable lens. Weird Faith drops on February 9th, 2024, along with a US headline tour. Madi Diaz alongside her openers Olivia Barton, Jack Van Cleaf, and Daniel Nunnelee will be a show you definitely won’t want to miss, so secure your tickets here.
“Don’t Do Me Good” is the second single off of Weird Faith that features vocals from Kacey Musgraves. It’s about longing for somebody you keep going back to, despite the fact that you don’t gain anything from them. It’s hopeful in a melancholic way, with lyrics such as “Without the better days, the one-step-closer phase, who on earth would I be?” Kacey Musgraves introduces her vocals in the second verse, and then Diaz joins back in. The harmonies between the two provide a sense of yearning and pain, despite the angelic-sounding blend between their voices. “Don’t Do Me Good” is an exciting look into Weird Faith, and we’ll be anticipating the rest of the album!
