Lightning 100 is thrilled to announce Boy Orbison as the Local Artist of The Week presented by Frothy Monkey!
“Dayquil” opens with Mariachi trumpets that fade into a catchy indie rock chord pattern. Boy Orbison’s vocals lay out a descriptive story that takes you on a trip into a surreal world. With lyrics detailing the adventure of a spider, and set to the contradictory combination of mariachi trumpets and indie rock guitar – “DayQuil” cannot be put in a box.
Describing the track, Boy Orbison writes, “It’s fun and loud and about where your mind wanders, as you wade into the sweet relief of cough syrup whilst in the throes of an upper respiratory bug.”

The track was produced by Jared Corder, owner and in-house producer of Polychrome Ranch, a secluded and scenic studio out in Hartsville, Tennessee. Corder is making a mark on the Nashville indie rock community, having also worked with local favorites such as Michigander and Nordista Freeze. Boy Orbison is making a name for himself in this group as he continues to release creative singles independently and market them in his own way.
As a part of this year’s Music City Mayhem, Boy Orbison’s song “Heartbreaker” was in the running. He contributes another fun track to the Lighting 100 airwaves with the release of “DayQuill” on September 19th. Be sure to listen all week long on Lightning 100, and check out “DayQuill” below!
